Privacy & Security - Your privacy and security as a member of Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC), or as a guest to the CCC website, is very important to us. As a CCC member or guest, you can be sure that your online purchases are secure, that your email and mailing addresses will be kept confidential, and that we will not provide any data supplied by you to a third party for any reason. CCC does not, and will not, sell it's membership or merchandise list! Here are answers to some commonly asked questions.
When I join CCC or purchase merchandise through your site, what do you do with that information?
When you make a donation or purchase merchandise through CCC's web site, your personal information and email address are only used for internal records. All e-mail and mailing addresses are kept confidential and will not be provided to any third party for any reason. CCC does not, and will not, sell it's membership or merchandise list.
What information do you collect from all visitors?
CCC collects the name of your domain (i.e. aol.com, princeton.edu, etc.), the last page you visited before connecting to CCC, keywords used in search engines and the pages visited at our site. This information is only used internally to analyze CCC web site traffic. This is done through cookies.
Think we spammed your e-mail or sent you an attached file with a virus?
Please be advised there are a number of virus and spam e-mails being sent with CCC's or STSL's name on them. CCC/STSL has nothing to do with these e-mails and is in no way responsible for sending them. Unfortunately, it is very easy for anyone to put a fake name into an e-mail message and send it out to thousands of people, and there is nothing we can do to stop them.
If you receive a suspicious e-mail with an attachment, DO NOT open the attachment. CCC/STSL does not send attachments with it's Action Alerts or Press Releases, and if you do receive an attachment claiming to be from us, it is probably a virus that was sent by someone else. We strongly recommend that you never click on an attachment you are not specifically expecting and from someone you know.
The Caribbean Conservation Corporation and its Sea Turtle Survival League periodically send out e-mail Action Alerts and Press Releases only to people who have intentionally signed up for it. We do not buy mailing lists and we do not sell our e-mail or donor lists. A genuine Action Alert or Press Release from CCC/STSL will always have an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If you received e-mail from us, it is because you subscribed through our web site or sent us an e-mail requesting to be placed on our list. If you no longer want to receive correspondence from us, you can unsubscribe and we will no longer send you email. On the other hand, if you have never subscribed to our site but have received something with our name in it, chances are you have received an e-mail virus message which did not originate from us.
CCC takes great care in providing a secure transmission of your information over the Internet through our online website forms. Please understand that while we strive to protect your personal information, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. CCC cannot ensure, and does not warrant, the security of any information that you transmit to us, which you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. CCC uses encryption and security software to secure all sensitive information, including without limitation, credit card numbers, that is transmitted to us over the Internet. Credit card numbers are used for processing payments only. Charges will appear as "Caribbean Conservation Corporation" on your statement.
