This plot shows the annual nesting from leatherbacks at core index beaches during the period 1989-2002. A regression of log-transformed nest numbers reveals a significant increase in leatherback nesting over the 14-year period (r=0.92, p less than 0.001).

The annual number of leatherback nests at the core set of index beaches ranged from 27 to 357 between 1989 and 2002. Leatherback nesting on index beaches represents approximately 34% of leatherback nesting in the state of Florida.
